Tawny Crazy Ants

Have any of you ever had trouble with ants? If you have, you are not alone. Ants are a common problem in the United States. In the southern and the south-western portions of the United States an ant species known as Tawny Crazy Ants have become common. There is some basic information to know about ants, then we will move on to more specific information about Crazy Ants and what you can do about them.
The first thing to know about ants is that while there are many kinds of ants, all ants are part of the family formicidae. Being in the formicidae family make them relatives of the well known bugs: bees and wasps. While in the Formicidae family, the specific species of the Tawny Crazy Ant is Nylanderia fulva.
The second thing to know is that all ants work in classes. There are three classes, these are males, workers, and queens. Now that we’ve looked at some basic things about ants, let's move on to more specific things about Tawny Crazy Ants. Crazy Ants have certain identifying features and unwanted effects.
These ants can be recognized because of their appearance and their not so nice behaviors. These ants are a reddish brown color. Another physical trait is their size, they are small ants that are about 1/8th of an inch long. Crazy ants also are always in big groups (I guess they learned that there’s strength in numbers). And just as everyone has their issues, Crazy Ants come with a set of their own issues. They can be great annoyances. These little pests can be destructive to equipment as well as causing discomfort to people in their path.
